In 2025, First Foundation Kids launched its most ambitious Literacy Program yet—an initiative designed to break barriers and open doors for children who had struggled with reading. Fifty-two young participants, many from underserved communities and foster care backgrounds, entered the program with determination but also with the weight of past challenges.
Through months of personalized tutoring, mentorship, and encouragement, something extraordinary happened. By the end of the program, 48 out of 52 participants proudly achieved reading proficiency—a milestone that once felt out of reach. That represents a 92% success rate, a remarkable improvement compared to 65% in 2024. This leap forward demonstrates not only the dedication of our young learners but also the profound impact of your generosity. For these children, reading became more than just a skill; it became a gateway to confidence, self-expression, and opportunity.
One participant, Maya, had entered the program shy and hesitant, often hiding behind silence. By graduation, she stood tall, reading aloud to her peers with a smile that lit up the room. Her story mirrors the transformation of dozens of others who now see themselves not as struggling students, but as capable learners with bright futures.
The Literacy Program of 2025 was more than numbers—it was about rewriting destinies. Each child who learned to read gained the power to dream bigger, to succeed in school, and to believe in themselves. And behind every success was the generosity of donors who made it possible.
Because of your support, First Foundation Kids is not just teaching literacy—we are cultivating hope, resilience, and opportunity. Together, we are proving that when children are given the tools to read, they are also given the tools to thrive.
